Living with loss and imagining what life would be like if my mom was still here

February is a hard month for me because it's the month I lost my mom suddenly and unexpectedly in 2015. It's hard to believe she's been gone for seven years. Grief is missing her and her role in my life and the lives of others. Last year I made a doodle about things I miss about her that she wouldn't miss about me.

She always had the answers, so this year I made a doodle about things that would be easier if she was still here. It's nice to imagine how she'd react to my life now, but it's bittersweet.

If you knew her, you'd know she was fun, easy-going (in some ways), charming, and warm. She encouraged my sisters and me to put ourselves out there and be bold. If you only know me or my work, I am who I am because of her.
